What is iZotope Labs?
iZotope Labs is a dedicated sandbox where iZotope subscribers can test-drive experimental concepts and prototype tech. Designed as a low-touch, exploratory environment, Labs lets users peek behind the curtain at what our DSP and research teams are currently working on. Play around with new ideas, push their boundaries, and share direct feedback on what actually works in a real-world studio setting.
iZotope Labs is highly experimental. You may discover bugs or experience inconsistent results as these projects are still in development. We hope you’ll share your experience with us through feedback prompts in the product.
Currently, iZotope Labs is only available with an iZotope subscription. More iZotope Labs experiments in the future may be open to the public in other formats, so stay tuned!
Access to specific Experiments is tied to your subscription tier (Plus or Pro) based on the products involved.
About iZotope Assistant
iZotope Assistant is a new experiment available in Tonal Balance Control 3 and Ozone 12 for iZotope Pro subscribers. As the industry’s first LLM-powered mixing and mastering assistant, it combines 25 years of iZotope DSP with an intelligent listening layer that understands your audio, providing detailed feedback on everything from tonal balance to stereo width. You can even prompt it to take action and make hands-on adjustments across compatible iZotope plugins in your session.
- In Tonal Balance Control 3 and Ozone 12: available as a limited-seat beta for iZotope Pro subscribers – you can opt in to claim your spot or join the waitlist.
iZotope Assistant in Ozone
Our latest iZotope Labs experiment, iZotope Assistant, is now available in Ozone 12 as a limited-seat beta for iZotope Pro subscribers. It’s an “audio-aware” chat collaborator that sits inside Ozone, turning complex mastering decisions into a simple conversation – in any language, all without leaving your DAW. iZotope Assistant guides, you decide.
What you can do with iZotope Assistant in Ozone:
- Get feedback on your master: iZotope Assistant listens to your master and gives detailed feedback. It’s your new sense-check for tonal balance, dynamics, and stereo width, along with vocal, drum, and bass levels. Plus, when using Master Assistant, the analysis is automatically tailored to your target.
- Control Ozone’s modules: Tell iZotope Assistant what you want to hear, and it can reach into Ozone’s modules to make the changes for you – even reordering your signal chain when needed. Need a closer look at a specific module? Just ask. Not quite there? Keep refining through the conversation until it sounds right. It’s always your call. Note: Mid/Side processing isn’t supported yet.
- Ask anything about Ozone: Not sure what a control does, or which module to reach for? iZotope Assistant is here to help. Ask about Ozone’s features and controls, and get mastering advice and best practices – all in the language you write in.
- Control your other iZotope plugins: iZotope Assistant doesn’t stop at Ozone. Just describe what you want, and it can make EQ tweaks across compatible plugins like Neutron and Nectar – and work alongside Tonal Balance Control 3 – all without leaving Ozone.
As an iZotope Labs experiment, iZotope Assistant in Ozone may have quirks, and features may change based on your feedback.

FAQs
Are the features/tools in iZotope Labs going to be released someday?
Some of them might be released; some of them might not. This is primarily a place for our users to test things out and give us feedback.
I’m a perpetual customer – why can’t I access iZotope Labs?
iZotope Labs is currently a perk for iZotope subscribers, but you can still apply to be part of our broader beta team and test future iZotope products. If you’re interested, you can submit an application here.
I’m an iZotope Plus subscriber – why can’t I access some iZotope Labs Experiments?
Access depends on whether your tier includes the base product hosting the Experiment. iZotope Assistant, for example, is available to iZotope Pro subscribers in Tonal Balance Control 3 and Ozone 12.
Is iZotope Assistant in Ozone the same as the one in Tonal Balance Control 3?
It’s the same iZotope Assistant, now built into your mastering workflow. Chat with Ozone in any language, and it can give feedback on your masters, answer questions about Ozone, make changes in Ozone’s modules and module chain, and reach across to Tonal Balance Control 3, Neutron, and Nectar. You can keep using iZotope Assistant in Tonal Balance Control 3 as before.
I’ve signed up, but I’m on the waitlist. When will I get access?
iZotope Assistant in Ozone is available to a limited number of iZotope Pro subscribers at a time. As soon as a spot opens up, we’ll send you an invite by email – there’s nothing else you need to do in the meantime.
I’ve updated Ozone, but I can’t see the Assistant button. What should I do?
Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of Ozone 12 and are signed in to Native Access with the Native Instruments account that holds your active iZotope Pro subscription. If the button still doesn’t appear, contact iZotope Support.
The Assistant button appears once Ozone confirms your iZotope Pro subscription through your Native Instruments account. If it’s missing, try these steps:
- Check which account you’re signed into in Native Access. This is the most common cause. If you have used more than one email with iZotope or Native Instruments over the years (for example, an older iZotope account and a newer Native Instruments account), Native Access may be signed in with a different account from the one that holds your iZotope Pro subscription. Sign out of Native Access, sign back in with the account that has your subscription, then quit and reopen your DAW.
- Make sure you have the latest version of Ozone 12. Check for updates in Native Access, and check that the installed version matches the latest one listed there.
- Restart your DAW. Quit your DAW completely, reopen it, and load Ozone 12 in a new session. The button can take a few seconds to appear after Ozone opens.
- Check your internet connection and any blocking software. Ozone checks your access online each time it opens. If something blocks that check, the button won't appear, and you won't see an error. Common causes include ad blockers, network-wide filters (such as Pi-hole or NextDNS), firewall apps (such as Little Snitch or LuLu), VPNs, workplace networks, and ad-blocking or security features built into some home routers and internet providers. Quick test: connect to a different network, such as your phone's hotspot, and reopen Ozone. If the button appears there, something on your usual network is blocking the check. Pause or adjust that filter, or contact your network admin.
- Check that your system is supported. See System Requirements below for supported operating systems and DAWs.
Still no button? Contact iZotope Support and include:
- The email you’re signed into Native Access with
- Your Ozone version (shown at the bottom of Ozone’s Options window)
- Your operating system, DAW, and version
- Whether the button appears when you connect to a different network
Seeing a waitlist or approval screen instead? That means the button is working and your account was found. See “I’ve signed up, but I’m on the waitlist” above.
