When the Insight plug-in is added to a track, it should automatically “sense” how many channels are on that track and display everything correctly.
However, as all DAWs and host applications work differently, in some cases Insight may show up incorrectly. This error generally shows up in two different ways:
Insight displays as a 5.1 Surround Plug-in on a Stereo Track
In some hosts, such as in Ableton Live, Insight will show up as a 5.1 surround plug-in instead of a stereo plug-in, and it will show blank meters for the extra channels.
Though there is not a way to remove the extra channels, to make sure all meters behave as expected, please try these steps:
1.) Open the Insight Options.
2.)Navigate to the “I/O” tab.
3.) Change both the Input Format and Display Format fields to SMPTE
This will ensure that the left and right channels are labeled correctly.Insight does not display the information on a stereo track’s “Right” channel
Occasionally, Insight may correctly show up with only 2 channels on a stereo track, but only the “Left” channel will display information and the “Right” channel will remain blank. This occurs due to a similar problem as mentioned previously, and can be resolved similarly with these steps:
1.) Open the Insight Options.
2.) Navigate to the “I/O” tab.
3.)Change both the Input Format and Display Format fields to SMPTE
