Here are some common issues and resolutions for issues with getting up and running with Vinyl. These are broken up into sections; Registering/Authorization, Installation, and Functionality.
Where can I get my serial number?
You can get a serial number from our Product Downloads page for Vinyl.
Why can't I authorize Vinyl? (error message)
"No purchase matched this authorization request"
This likely means that Product Portal can't find your license, you can get around this by downloading from Product Downloads and then locating your serial number from your Purchase History.
"This serial number is in use by another account"
This error represents a difference between the email address that Vinyl authorize to, compared to the email address entered into the authorization window. Please check your email address and account email to be sure they match. You can always redeem a new Vinyl serial number on a new account from its page here.
"You have no remaining Challenge/Response authorizations..."
This error means the serial number has been used 5 times, you can either redeem a new free serial number with a new email here or let Customer Care know you're seeing this and that can be increased!
Why isn't Vinyl installing? (mac)
Please head to this article for more information on this.
Vinyl installation error message: 1638 c++ (PC)
Pressing OK on that error message will still allow Vinyl to install its components properly.
Once completed have your DAW scan for your plug-ins in these locations (depending on your DAW):
32-bit VST2: C:/Program_Files(x86)/Steinberg/VSTplugins
64-bit VST2: C:/Program_Files/Steinberg/VSTplugins
32-bit VST3: C:/Program_Files(x86)/Common_Files/VST3
64-bit VST3: C:/Program_Files/Common_Files/VST3
This should allow you to use the plug-in in your Host Software.
Where is Vinyl after I click install?
After installation, Vinyl files should appear in these locations:
mac:
— AAX: Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-ins
— AU: Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > Components
— VST: Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > VST
— VST 3: Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > VST 3
PC
— 64-bit VST: C: > Program Files > Steinberg > VstPlugins
— 64-bit VST 3: C: > Program Files > Common Files > VST3 > iZotope
— 64-bit AAX: C: > Program Files > Common Files > Avid > Audio > Plug-ins
Why can't I load Vinyl in my host application/DAW?
Using the locations from the question above, you should be able to open your host application/DAWs plugin manager and be sure it's scanning at least one of those correctly. You may also need to restart your computer to refresh this process.
