Q: Why is Spire Pro now free?
A: iZotope’s mission is to inspire and enable people to be creative.
And we were inspired by the widespread adoption of Spire during the months of quarantine. It highlighted the creative potential within all of us and prompted conversations about making Spire even more accessible to all musicians by removing the subscription fee.
Now we can’t wait to see even more people make music with the help of Spire Pro’s creative assistance.
Q: What is changing in Spire Pro?
A: We are keeping the most loved Spire Pro features—pro mic clarity in Soundcheck, creative vocal effects, vocal tuning, and the random effects generator Inspire Me.
We are removing Spire Pro beats, automatic noise reduction, virtual pop filter, and link sharing.
You can still share .spire project files, individual tracks, and mixdowns through Airdrop, messaging, and more. You can also still import your own beats and tracks.
Q: Why was cloud sharing removed from Spire?
A: Spire’s cloud sharing tools were built with the intent that they’d be the quickest, simplest way to collaborate with others or publish your music.
However, user feedback indicated a preference for using pre-existing file-sharing services more familiar to people, like AirDrop and messaging apps, which we’ve subsequently embraced.
We are taking down share.izotope.com on September 18, 2021.
Q: What is included with Spire Pro?
A: Enable Spire Pro in the Spire app for iOS to unlock full access to exclusive features including personalized vocal processing and studio effects that help you get pro-quality, release-ready vocals recorded with your iPhone.
Q: I own Spire Studio Hardware, will I still see upgrades to the application if I don’t have Spire Pro?
A: We will continue to support and update the free Spire app and firmware for Spire Studio. Spire Pro grants access to exclusive new features and content that will only be available through enabling Spire Pro.
Q: Is Spire Pro a separate version of the app? If not, how does it know if customers have subscribed? For example: if they have more than one device?
A: Spire Pro is an upgrade to the free Spire iOS app. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID so mobile devices signed in to your Apple ID will have access to your App Store subscriptions, including Spire Pro. To access your subscription on another iOS device, sign in to your Apple ID, visit Settings in the Spire app and tap Restore Purchases.
Q: Once subscribed, regarding Soundcheck, there won't be a way to go to past projects and add this new functionality, correct?
A: You won’t be able to apply the upgraded Soundcheck to previously recorded vocals. You’ll need to run Soundcheck with Spire Pro and record a new vocal track.
Q: Once subscribed, can you go back to existing projects and run the upgrades Soundcheck on pre-recorded tracks?
A: You won’t be able to apply the upgraded Soundcheck to previously recorded vocals. You’ll need to run Soundcheck with Spire Pro and record a new vocal track.
Q: Will you bring Spire Pro to Android?
A: Currently, we do not have a timeline for when we might bring Spire Pro to Android.
Q: What is a “mix effect” and how does it work?
A: Mix effects, like Tune, are added after your record from the Mix view. These are the first type of effects for Spire that do not require Spire Studio hardware to access, you can add Tune with the standalone iOS app if you enabled Spire Pro!
Q: Do mix effects work for Spire Studio hardware?
A: In order to apply a mix effect, you’ll need to disconnect from Spire Studio from your WiFi settings.
Q: Can I use Tune on any track?
A: Tune is a pitch correction effect that is designed for vocals. Tracks that have been Soundchecked and identified as vocals or have had the track icon manually changed to vocals can have Tune applied to them from the Mix view.
